Johnstown Housing Authority is proud to have formed a partnership with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank that is resulting in free food distributions to our residents.

During this pilot program, we received 50 boxes of fresh produce at each of the following seven communities, for a total of 350 food boxes! At approximately 20 lbs each, that’s around 7,000 pounds (or 3.5 TONS) of potatoes, onions and squash!

April 7 - Oakhurst & Solomon (leftovers taken to Vine St Tower & Connor Tower)

May 5 - Prospect & Coopersdale (leftovers taken to Loughner Plaza)

May 13 - Vine St Tower, Connor Tower, Town House Tower (leftovers taken to our friends at Garden Terrace Apts)

The amount of food given is based on how many members are in each household. Interested families were able to pick up a food box at the community room where they live, while supplies lasted.

JHA only pays for the delivery of the food, not for the food itself. We are grateful for the partnership and thankful for our caring staff that are willing to manage the distributions. After analyzing the data from this pilot program we will decide how to continue distributions throughout our communities.
